Good Governance Africa and city profiles
Good Governance Africa (GGA) has completed a Johannesburg city profile, building on a draft that the Good Governance Africa (GGA) has completed a profile of Johannesburg, building on a draft that the Gauteng City-Region Observatory (GCRO) reviewed last year. GGA is a non-governmental organization in Sub-Saharan Africa focused on enhancing good governance through research and advocacy, particularly at the local government level.
This Johannesburg profile is part of a broader initiative aimed at developing comparative data and analysis for African cities. Initially, this project will focus on ten cities in the Southern African Development Community (SADC), with plans to expand to thirty cities across the continent. This initiative will also include the creation of an interactive database for African cities and a City Development Index.
GGA has invited GCRO and its partners to provide feedback on the initial draft of the Johannesburg report. Insights from the Gauteng city-region are expected to inform both the local profile and the broader comparative city analysis.
