Africa Mobility Network Phase 2 Kicks Off with Successful Meeting

  • Date of publication: 04 August 2025

The AfricaMobility Network (AMN) officially launched Phase 2 of its initiative with a successful kick-off meeting on 23 July. The meeting was attended by 27 participants representing various city-regions from across the continent. The event marked an important milestone in advancing sustainable and inclusive mobility solutions in Africa. Participants included representatives from government agencies and research institutions, all of whom were committed to promoting innovation in urban mobility in Africa. Since its inception in 2021, initially involving four city-regions, Maputo, Gauteng, Dakar, and Barcelona, the Network has grown to include Nairobi, Bamako, Addis Ababa, and Douala.

A key outcome of Phase 1 was the establishment of an active network of mobility practitioners working across diverse urban contexts. Building on this foundation, Phase 2 aims to strengthen regional collaboration, encourage peer-to-peer learning, and generate practical insights into addressing Africa’s mobility challenges. The kick-off meeting set the tone for a dynamic and impactful second phase, with a renewed focus on user experience, good practices for Bus Rapid Transport implementation, and gender-responsive approaches.

Further updates and outcomes will be shared as the AfricaMobility Network advances its ambitious agenda.
