Workshop on violent community protests and xenophobic violence

This work was suggested by the Head of the Gauteng Planning Commission in July 2009, and independently, by Prof Adam Habib at the same time. GCRO organised a day-long workshop, including a focus group with residents from Tokoza, to explore dynamics underlying recent community protests and to consider how and why some turn violent, and some take on xenophobic characteristics, in some instances. The workshop was held on 12 October 2009.
