Current Projects
GCRO will partner with other academic departments and centres to run various kinds of academic dialogue. Note that these are in addition to workshops, symposia and public launch-events held in the normal course of GCRO projects.
Selected conferences, seminars and symposia:
GCRO staff present to academic and other audiences on a regular basis, as part of academic citizenship and scholarship.
Selected presentations:
Academic and other publications are critical for an academic institution, particularly those appearing in peer reviewed journals, which are key in maintaining standards and pushing researchers to reach (and exceed) international standards.
Selected published works:
A Resource Centre, holding hard-copy and electronic resources in a MS Access database, has being developed to record all materials (both hard and soft copies) determined to be relevant and important to understanding the evolution of the Gauteng City-Region. Documents have been captured and categorised into some 50 broad themes, such as:
Where appropriate GCRO staff will contribute to the teaching and learning work of various universities through lecturing and supervision.
GCRO has initiated a ‘Visitors Series’ with the aim of securing the services of visiting researchers, or practitioners to reflect on and write up their work experiences and work with the GCRO for a defined period.
